* The Upper Elementary (UE) and Adolescent (AD) curriculum includes overnight enrichment experiences; typically up to four nights away in UE and three weeks in AD. Charges are set by outside vendors. These fees are now included in the above tuition amounts, so no additional fees will be charged.

Deposits: Deposits are due with submission of signed Enrollment & Tuition Contracts (ETC). For re-enrolling students, deposits are rolled over from year to year until a child completes their educational experience at MCMS. Deposits are refunded only after completion of a full school year and payment of full annual tuition costs, including any incidental charges, typically in July following the completed school year.

Annual Fee: This non-refundable fee pays for program-related costs, such as consumable classroom supplies, snack/milk, and most off-campus day trips and transportation. Annual fees are billed on the first invoice of the school year, which typically occurs in August.

Annual Tuition: Tuition is charged on an annual basis. Families may choose to pay their annual tuition in full (invoiced in August), in 2 equal installments (invoiced in August & January), or divided into 10 equal installments (invoiced monthly August – May). 10-month installment plans include a service charge. Families will select their payment preference on the ETC; if no preference is indicated, the family will be invoiced based on the 10-month installment plan. A $100 Enrollment Change Fee is charged for reductions in programming requested after October 1.

Application Fee: A non-refundable $100 fee must be submitted for each new student applying to MCMS.

Registration Fee: Returning families will be billed a non-refundable registration fee of $50 per student upon re-enrollment for the upcoming school year.

Financial Assistance

MCMS offers a financial aid program to offset the cost of tuition for eligible families. This is a need-based program, with financial aid awards made annually (generally in April) for the upcoming school year. An application for financial aid must be made through FAST, an independent program used for calculating award packages. Families who encounter an unexpected financial hardship during the school year should reach out to the MCMS Director of Finance and Operations to discuss additional financial assistance opportunities mid-year.

In addition to need-based aid, the following opportunities may be available to provide assistance with the cost of attendance:

Transportation Reimbursement: If you reside in the Madison Metropolitan or Middleton-Cross Plains School District, you may be able to receive reimbursement of your transportation expenses to and from school. Contact your home school district for more information, documentation requirements, and deadlines. You may need to report your student’s specific attendance record.

Dependent Care Assistance Programs: Parents may be eligible to set aside pre-tax dollars in a dependent care FSA in order to pay for a portion of their child’s tuition prior to reaching Kindergarten age, or for wraparound care programs for a child who is younger than age 13.

Wisconsin Tuition Tax Deduction: Parents may be able to deduct from their Wisconsin income certain tuition payments made for students enrolled in K-12 private schools using Schedule PS.

Section 529 Plans: Parents may use Section 529 plan savings to pay for private K-12 tuition, subject to certain limits.

Use of some of these programs may affect other tax benefits you may be entitled to. Consult with a tax professional to learn more about the tax treatment of private school tuition payments and/or wraparound care fees. MCMS’ FEIN is 39-1488030.
