In spring of 2019, MCMS’ long-time head of school announced plans to step down in June 2020 after over a decade of dedicated service to MCMS. With the leadership of our current interim head of school, and through the shared commitment of our faculty, staff, and school community to respecting children and their natural joy of discovery, MCMS has emerged through the 2020-21 pandemic school year with the resolve to build an even stronger community for the future under new leadership for the 2022-2023 school year and beyond.
The MCMS Board of Trustees is currently undertaking a national search for a new head of school with an anticipated start date no later than July 2022, with flexibility for an earlier transition with the right candidate. The Board, led by chair Amy Jester and trustee Jessica Hermsen, has partnered with JL Hermsen Group LLC, an organization development consultancy, to assist with this process and to ensure a smooth and successful transition. The Board is committed to a search process that is collaborative in nature, with input received from the MCMS faculty, staff, parent, and trustee communities.
MCMS’s next leader will inherit a school with a talented and dedicated faculty, beautiful building and grounds, a rich 50-year history, and a welcoming community that shares the Montessori values of grace, kindness, and courtesy.
See the Head of School Opportunity Statement for more details on how to express interest in the position. Questions on this position can be directed to the search committee.
