Each spring, MCMS hosts an annual Fun Run, right in our own backyard! The primary goal of the Fun Run is to encourage students to be active outside and gain confidence in themselves as they practice new skills, like running. The secondary goal is to help raise funds for the school’s Discovery Fund.

What is a Fun Run?

This is a school fundraiser that encourages healthy lifestyles, fun, and community among all of our classrooms. A lap track will be organized around the inner perimeter of our backyard play space. At the signal, students will start running, walking, skipping, or a mixture of all three around the track. Some laps will be themed. Stops around the track will be designed for water breaks, art activities, raffles, and tracking the amount of laps completed.

How is this a fundraiser?
Students can be sponsored for their run, either by the amount of laps they complete, or for their participation. Fundraising/collection of donations is strictly voluntary.

Can my child participate even if they don’t want to run? Or if they don’t raise money?
Absolutely! This is meant to be a community event above everything else. We encourage all children
to participate however they can or feel like it that day.

Is this event for adults?
While the main running event is just for students, we are always in need of parent volunteers for set up,
clean up, sponsorships, collecting donations, running booths, marking off laps, and encouraging
reluctant participants. If you are able to volunteer, please watch for more information in the Tuesday Bulletin.

Special Information for Toddlers:
This event is for all students! Toddlers will be invited to run, walk, scoot, or bike around their private
playground for the first 25 minutes of the event. Then, the Toddlers will join the rest of the classes for
one Toddler-friendly lap in the main backyard, followed by full participation in the rest of the festivities
out back.
