Giving Opportunities
Why your gifts are so important
Madison Community Montessori School is made up of a community of individuals who support the school in many ways. This commitment is a tradition at MCMS that enables the school to enhance existing programs and realize its mission. The philanthropic tradition of giving to non-profit organizations is very much alive at MCMS.
Like all independent schools, MCMS depends on the generosity of current families, alumni and friends to accomplish its visionary goals as well as to keep tuition costs as low as possible. The high standards we have come to expect at MCMS can only be maintained through the active support of its community.

Capital Campaign
In the fall of 2011, MCMS launched its first-ever capital campaign. Due to eminent domain by the Wisconsin DOT, MCMS was forced to leave the building that had been our home for over 20 years. We were able to secure our new location in the Town of Middleton and open the doors to our new home in the fall of 2012. With this move have come many expenses not covered or reimbursed by the state; hence the birth of our “Opening New Doors to Lifelong Learning” campaign.
The funds raised during our first phase of the campaign allowed us to continue with our plans for our new building. As of September 2012, we have reached 75% of our goal. The last 25% is needed to complete our playground. We have the plans for a natural playground ready to go, however we need your support to be able to provide the children with this wonderful, natural, outdoor play space.
Annual Fund
Our largest annual fundraiser is the Madison Community Montessori Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is one way to help fill the gap between tuition income and the actual cost of educating each child. Annual Fund revenues are put to use in the current year's operating budget to further our mission of providing the highest quality Montessori education to your child. Every gift matters and we ask every family to contribute at a level meaningful to them.
Matching Gifts
This is an opportunity to have your employer match your gift to MCMS. Please check with your employer to determine if they offer this program.
MCMS Endowment
The MCMS Endowment was established in 2008 with donations made by friends and families of MCMS. Guided by the mission of MCMS, the Endowment will support the following activities:
- Financial aid
- Capital funds or other major initiatives
- Community outreach
The first fund of the MCMS Endowment, the Dorothy Zografi Scholarship Fund, was created by the MCMS Board of Directors in honor of long-time Head of School, Dorothy Zografi. Donating to the MCMS Endowment will ensure that your donation continues in perpetuity to support MCMS.
Legacy
While most support comes in the form of check or in-kind gifts, many have become creative in their giving by using stocks and bonds. Making a planned gift may be as simple as remembering MCMS in your will or naming the school as a beneficiary of an insurance policy.
