Adolescent Program Assistant 8:00am-1:00pm (part-time: 25 hours/week)
Our growing Adolescent program boasts 18-20 students from 12-14 years of age (equivalent to 7th and 8th grade). The program is currently led by two Montessori trained full-time guides, who are responsible for the bulk of the teaching. This additional third adult will share responsibilities for math instruction and help support students in their writing projects, as well as support the guides in the overall organization and oversight of the program. S/he will help coordinate/teach creative expression classes (weekly courses that offer a choice opposite of what our current art instructor offers) in an effort to provide a variety of opportunities for the students. Some overnights may be required. Monthly meetings may also be required for this position outside of the regular shift (and typically occur after school). Interested candidates must possess a strong math background and have experience working with children at this age level. Toddler Program Assistant 10:15am-1:15pm each day (part-time: 15 hours/week)
There are 10-12 children in this program for children ages 15 months to 30-36 months. It is currently staffed with a full-time AMI Montessori guide and a full-time assistant. This third adult will help support the children through the transitions of outside time, lunch, mid-day dismissal, and nap. Cleaning of the environment, assistance with toilet learning, and break coverage for the full-time staff are included as main job responsibilities. Monthly meetings may also be required for this position outside of the regular shift (and typically occur after school). Interested candidates must be calm and flexible, and have experience working with children at this age level. Physical Education Specialist 11:30am-3:30pm Tuesdays & Wednesdays (part-time: 8 hours/week)
MCMS is seeking a part-time PE teacher, who can implement an active and robust PE program for our students in 1st-3rd grade, infusing Montessori principles. This position will receive support from our current PE teacher, who will continue leading instruction for our older grades, yet has the potential to grow in the years ahead to include the upper grades as well. Classes are made up of 8-10 students for three 45-minute sessions back-to-back with some recess supervision and dismissal responsibilities included as well. Monthly meetings may also be required for this position outside of the regular shift (and typically occur after school). Interested candidates must be flexible, active and a team player, and have experience working with children at this age level. Substitute teachers: MCMS seeks substitute teachers to assist in programs from toddler through junior high (12 months to 14 years). The ideal candidate has some experience working with children of all ages. Montessori knowledge and experience are a big plus: an interest in learning about Montessori education is a must!
